Long term sustainibility - Environment focus

Today it is of everyone’s concern to contribute to long term sustainability. IC Community wants to support and encourage organizations to focus on this subject in the management of the business. Therefore we launch a new version of the web-based system for business management (Business Navigator) where environment focus is a standard in the scorecard. IC Community at VincoClub network meeting
VincoClub is a knowledge network for communication managers. February 16, 2007 IC Community joined the VincoClub network meeting in Stockholm. With the help of the meeting tool Knowledge Café the following question, among others, were discussed: Which are the success factors for creating a successful cooperation between communication managers and HR?
As a result of the Knowledge Café session, the participants received a list of concrete, prioritized proposals, for creating improved cooperation between communication managers and HR.

IC Community at IST 2006 next week
Open Futures is a team of people passionate about Future Centers and other collaborative working environemnts. Since 2006 Open Futures is part of the sixth framework program priority 2.5.9 collaborative working environments.
As a prjoect Open Futures aims to accelerate the innovation, dissemination and use of Future Centers as collaborative working environments. The project officially started in the beginning of May 2006 and will run for 2 years until June 2008.

IC Community launch a new release, 5.2.
The new release contains, among others, support for the Aligning-concept. The Aligning-concept is a simplified method to align business and people (business plans to individual plans). The new release is also more flexible when it comes to adapting to unique models and terminologies used in the organizations’ business plan. Now you can also work with min/max targets (interval) and it is possible to use the alert function connected to targets.

Lunch meeting at Museum of Modern Art – Get everyone on the right track
October 10, IC Community held a seminar at the Museum of Modern Art in Stockholm. The theme of the event was to get everyone on the right track by aligning individual plans to the business plan. Ulf Samuelsson, head of board of directors, at Banverket Projektering told about how they managed to get everyone to work in the same direction by the help of our Aligning-concept. Banverket Projektering wanted to implement personal scorecards to create a process of working with objectives on individual level and involvement of the employees in the planning process.
The delegates also got the opportunity to learn about the Knowledge Café – a tool for managing democratic meetings.

If we do not know where we are, we do not know where to go in order to get where we want!
During springtime, summer and even this autumn there has been extra activity among approx 220 employees within the City of Stockholm, engaged in mapping their competence. They participate in a pilot project monitored by the Competence Development Fund, which enables the City to test IC Community’s Competence- and CV-database and at the same time explore the benefits for the individuals and the organization using the database. Approx 20 workshops/training sessions have been arranged by IC Community.
The tool Knowledge Navigator gives a structured mapping of the internal competence taking into consideration each individual’s unique traits and interests and not only formal knowledge.
The tool Ambitions Navigator gives the individual support in how to use his/her competences and which talents he/she wants to focus on. All together this is aiming at (with both tools in HR Navigator) improving the link of the organizational objectives and needs with the personnel’s competences and ambitions!
There are many benefits in obtaining a structured mapping of the internal competence. For example:
• The employee gets a tool for individual development and personal carrier planning
• It provides the employee with tools to make preparations for creative development dialogues with the manager easy
• It gives the manager good basic data for the development dialogue with the employee
• It provides knowledge of the employee’s capabilities and ambitions
• With knowledge about the employees’ competences the manager can more easily further develop, reallocate and/or recruit competences in order to meet organizational needs
• It makes possible processes of change more efficient
• It gives transparence of knowledge and creates a learning organization (Knowledge Management)

Competence analysis with the help of IC Community’s tool and support
Direct Försäkringsmäklarna AB, Intellibis, Einar Mattsson Byggnads AB, Filadelfiaförsamlingen i Stockholm, Socialavdelningen & Räddning- & Säkerhetsavdelningen Länsstyrelsen Stockholm and others have chosen IC Communitys tools for competence analysis "Mål 3 Navigator".
During last spring IC Community has performed a number of assignments regarding competence analysis. Starting with the company´s vision, strategic competence areas have been identified. Those have then been the base for the employee’s competence development plans. To make the analyse easier and more effective IC Communitys web-based tools, "Mål 3 Navigator", have been used.

Teracom department Products and Networks choose IC Community's strategic visualisation service as part of its scorecard project.
Graphical facilitation in a workshop forum is an aid in moving from words to deeds. Strategic visualization helps to capture ideas and see the big picture in discussions - clarifying visions and goals and creating a unity around business plans that are anchored in reality.

Knowledge seminar
IC Community held its yearly knowledge seminar at Operakällaren in Stockholm on September 9th. The subject for the seminar was:

Dynamic + Transparent = Efficient
The delegates were drawn from customers and stakeholders from various organisations. Leif Edvinsson from UNIC presented the latest holistic management trends and theories.
Bengt Westman from Sveriges Kommuner och Landsting entertained the audience with an exciting presentation of their successful management of a major reorganisation that was facilitated by the use of CompetenceAnalysis.
Pelle Snårelid turned up the heat further by comparing how much time organisations spend working with current issues rather than tomorrow’s issues. Pelle also described what he calls the Aligning Method, powerful in its simplicity, for aligning the business plan with an individual’s personal plan.
Everybody agreed that an efficient structure was a prerequiste for achieving satisfactory results!
The seminar was rounded off with lunch and informal discussions at Café Opera.

Disrupt-IT is "Project of the Month"
IC Community is a full partner of the European Disrupt-IT project and we are proud to announce that the European Commission co-sponsored project "Disrupt-IT" has been selected as the first "Project of the Month" by KnowledgeBoard »  (the major European Knowledge Management portal with over 5,000 members).
Our research was established to better understand how firms can leverage more competitive advantage with Disruptive Innovation. There will be a FREE virtual event, starting with a one hour on-line session on Thursday, 22 July, 15:00 CET (14:00 UK time). Singapore-based Hitachi Asia Ltd. are now using Dolphin Navigator System.

Japan-based companies Hitachi Corporation and Culture Convenience Club have recently licensed Dolphin Navigator System for their work with intellectual capital and balanced scorecard management.
Fortune.com ranked Hitachi as 4th in the Global 500 rankings for revenues in global electronics, electronic equipment and computer industries, and 26th on a global basis (based on July 2003 revenue).

Gartner Group har tillsammans med Cranfield School of Managament nyligen släppt den tredje upplagan av “Balanced Scorecard Software Report”. Rapporten har titeln “Automating your Scorecard” och anses vara ett värdefullt underlag för verksamheter som står inför beslutet att automatisera sin verksamhetsstyrning.
